How Should Perfume Be Packed for a Flight So It Doesn’t Leak?
Make sure the cap and any spray nozzle are securely closed, wrap the bottle in a plastic bag or cling film, then cushion it inside clothing or a padded pouch within your case, ideally upright rather than lying flat.
Why leaks happen in the first place
Pressure changes in the aircraft hold or cabin, along with rough handling of luggage generally, can loosen caps or trigger spray mechanisms if a bottle isn’t properly secured. A loose cap combined with the bottle being knocked about in a suitcase is the most common cause of a leak, rather than anything unusual about flying itself.

- Wrap the bottle in a sandwich bag or cling film as a backup barrier
- Nestle it inside soft clothing rather than letting it knock against harder items
