Seasonal Fragrance Guide
Weather changes fragrance more than most people realise — matching scent to season is a genuine skill, not a marketing gimmick.
Heat increases projection and speeds up how a fragrance evolves, while cold slows both down — which is why a fragrance that felt perfect in December can feel like too much in July, and vice versa. Building a small seasonal rotation is one of the most practical upgrades you can make to how you wear fragrance.
The basic pattern
- Winter — richer, deeper families (oud, amber, spice) suit the cold and heavier clothing.
- Summer — lighter, fresher families (citrus, light florals) suit the heat and increased projection.
- Spring/autumn — transitional; balanced, moderate-intensity scents work well.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a different fragrance for every season?
Not necessarily — a small rotation of two or three scents across the year covers most people’s needs well.
