Perfume Longevity & Projection
More than any other question, this is the one that brings people through our door: why doesn’t my perfume last?
Longevity depends on concentration, note composition, skin type and application technique — all controllable to some degree, which is good news if your current fragrance keeps disappearing by lunchtime. Understanding the levers gives you real control over how long any scent stays with you.
The main levers
- Concentration — higher percentage of fragrance oil lasts longer.
- Note composition — heavy bases (oud, musk, amber) outlast light top notes.
- Skin — moisturised skin holds fragrance better than dry skin.
- Application — pulse points, not rubbed in, applied to prepared skin.
Frequently asked questions
Why can’t I smell my own perfume after a while?
Nose blindness (olfactory adaptation) — your brain filters out constant smells; others can usually still smell you fine. See our dedicated guide below.
For lasting power, start with our Perfume Oils at around 25% concentration.
