What Humidity Actually Does
Moist air slows evaporation and can trap heavier resinous and woody notes close to the skin and surrounding air, sometimes making a fragrance feel thicker, muskier or even slightly muggy alongside the humidity itself. Oud and amber, both naturally deep and heavy notes, can feel intensified almost to the point of heaviness in this kind of climate.
What Dry Heat Does Instead
In dry desert conditions, alcohol-based top notes evaporate very fast, which is part of why traditional attars — oil-based and alcohol-free — remain the preferred format across much of the Gulf.
