Not usually necessary — a cool, dark, stable cupboard away from windows and bathroom humidity does the job for most homes, and a fridge is really only worth considering if you genuinely have no cooler, more stable space and no air conditioning at all.

Why the fridge isn’t a magic upgrade

Fridges are opened and closed repeatedly, which causes small but frequent temperature swings that aren’t actually ideal for perfume, and the cold can temporarily mute a fragrance’s scent (it returns to normal once it warms back to room temperature, so this isn’t permanent damage). For most people in genuinely hot climates, a dark drawer, cupboard, or wardrobe away from windows and heat sources provides more stable, consistent conditions than a fridge that’s being opened several times a day.

If you do decide to use a fridge, keeping the bottle in its original box adds an extra layer of protection against both light and the humidity that can build up inside a fridge over time.
