How Can You Smell Good All Day Without Constantly Reapplying Perfume?
You get more from a single application by moisturising unscented skin first, applying to pulse points rather than clothes, choosing a longer-lasting concentration such as eau de parfum or a perfume oil, and layering with a matching scented body product so the base note lingers even after the top layers fade.
A routine that actually extends wear
- Moisturise with a fragrance-free lotion beforehand; dry skin holds scent far worse than hydrated skin
- Apply to warm pulse points, wrists, neck, inner elbows, rather than spraying into the air and walking through it
- Choose eau de parfum, parfum, or an oil over eau de toilette or cologne if longevity matters more to you than a light touch
- Layer a scented shower gel or body lotion in the same fragrance family underneath your perfume
- Keep a small travel spray or oil for one light top-up around the midway point of your day, rather than reapplying repeatedly
Our perfume oils are particularly good for this since a small amount goes a long way and reapplying doesn’t risk overwhelming a room. For the full technique, read our how to apply and wear perfume guide, and for longevity fundamentals, the complete guide to perfume. Storing your perfume properly between wears also helps, since a fragrance that’s been degraded by heat or light simply won’t perform as well no matter how it’s applied.
