Generally no, oud oil does not leave a lasting stain on skin, though very dark, resin-heavy oils can occasionally leave a faint temporary tint that washes off with normal cleansing.

What Actually Happens

The deep colour of quality oud oil comes from the resin itself, and while it can sit visibly on the skin’s surface for a short while after application, it is not a dye and does not bind permanently. A wash with soap and water is normally enough to remove any visible trace, even from very dark, concentrated batches.

Where to Be More Careful

Light-coloured fabric is more at risk than skin, since natural fibres can absorb oil-based colour more readily, so it is worth letting oud oil settle before dressing in anything pale. If you do notice any colour after a session, a gentle exfoliating cleanser will usually clear it within a wash or two, so there is rarely any cause for concern.
